How interviewers test your communication and preparation right from the start.
Walk me through your T24 / Temenos career.
I've worked on Temenos T24 for twelve years, six in Oman. Started at Temenos Partner in India doing T24 implementations across South Asia, moved to Oman seven years ago for an in-bank implementation project, and stayed. For the past four years I've been senior techno-functional consultant at an Omani Tier-1 bank that runs T24 as its core. I cover the lending, deposits, and accounting modules with strong jBASE / Infobasic programming. I hold Temenos certifications and have led 3 major T24 upgrades.

Past-experience questions. Use the STAR framework: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Tell me about a major T24 project you led.
Last year I led the T24 R21 upgrade from R17. Eighteen months of work: impact assessment across our 200+ customisations, vendor coordination on platform changes, regression testing, parallel run, and the cutover. Cutover window 36 hours over a long weekend. Recovery plan tested. Live without major incident; minor configuration adjustments in the first month. T24 upgrades succeed on rigorous testing and operational planning; rushed upgrades create months of post-go-live firefighting.
Major upgrade experience.
Describe a production issue you solved.
Our COB (close of business) batch was running 90 minutes over its window, threatening morning service availability. Root caused: a custom routine in interest calculation was running inefficiently against grown data volumes. Refactored the routine with proper indexing and reduced batch processing time by 70%. COB window stable since. T24 environments accumulate customisation debt over years; periodic review and optimisation pays back.
Performance engineering on T24.
Tell me about a time you pushed back on a customisation.
Business wanted a custom field added to the customer record for a regulatory report; would have required schema customisation and vendor support implications. I proposed instead using an existing extensible field with the right metadata; same business outcome, no schema impact. Adopted. Every avoidable customisation is a future upgrade headache; saying no thoughtfully is part of good T24 consulting.
Customisation discipline.

Technical & role-specific
Questions that test your specific skills for this role.
Walk me through how you handle a T24 customisation.
Requirements clear before any code. Decide standard product feature vs configuration vs customisation; in that order of preference. If customisation needed, design with upgrade-safety: avoid modifying standard tables, use extension points where T24 provides them, jBASE / Infobasic with clear local routine naming. Code reviewed by another senior. Testing in standalone environment, then integrated, then full regression. Documentation maintained for the customisation register. T24 customisation is a discipline, not just programming.
Specific T24 customisation methodology.
Describe your approach to T24 testing.
Regression suite covering all critical business flows: account opening, deposits, withdrawals, loan disbursements, interest calculations, COB. Maintained as the platform evolves. For new changes: unit testing first, then targeted integration. For releases: full regression. Performance testing for COB-impacting changes. Test data management essential; production data masked appropriately. Automation increasing where stable enough. T24 testing investment is justified by the operational cost of production issues.
Specific T24 testing depth.
How do you handle integration with T24?
TOCF (Temenos Online Cash Framework) or similar for online interfaces. Service-oriented integration where T24 exposes services through the framework. File-based integration for batch interfaces with proper reconciliation. Real-time integration patterns for time-sensitive interactions. Resilience built in: retry logic, idempotent operations, failure logging. T24 integration patterns are now mature; following Temenos guidance is usually right.

Situational
Hypothetical scenarios designed to test your judgement and approach.
A T24 production issue is impacting customers. What's your response?
Assess: which customers affected, what functionality broken, is data integrity at risk. Engage operations and management with quick situation update. Investigate: error logs, recent changes, environment factors. Decide forward-fix vs rollback. Communicate to affected stakeholders. Execute the fix with controlled approach. Post-incident review the following day: what did we miss, what process change prevents recurrence. T24 incidents are high-stakes; the response process matters as much as the technical fix.

Cultural fit & motivation
Why this role, why this company, and how you work with others.
How do you work with business users on T24 projects?
Business users in banking generally have strong functional knowledge but technical depth varies. I translate between their language (loan products, account types) and T24 capability (product modules, parameters, transactions). I prototype rather than just discuss; showing the configuration in a test environment accelerates the conversation. Patient with rework when initial understanding wasn't quite right; the goal is the right outcome, not minimising my work.

What are your salary expectations?
For a senior T24 techno-functional consultant role at an Omani bank I'd target OMR 2,500 to 3,200 total package depending on the bank's T24 footprint and scope. Roles leading upgrades or major projects pay a premium. T24 specialism in Oman is in limited supply; market pays accordingly. I'd expect annual bonus and certification budget. I'm on 60-90 days' notice. Beyond pay I value the bank's T24 maturity; modernised T24 environments are more rewarding than over-customised legacy ones.
Researched range and platform-maturity preference.
