What candidates actually need to know about the PMP exam
Eligibility has two paths. Path one: a four-year degree plus 36 months of leading projects within the last eight years, plus the 35 contact hours. Path two: a secondary diploma plus 60 months of leading projects within the last eight years, plus the 35 contact hours. Most working Omani candidates qualify through one or the other.
The 35 contact hours have to be valid. PMI audits a percentage of applications. Hours documented by an Authorized Training Partner are accepted directly. Hours documented by non-ATP providers can be rejected. Choose ATP to avoid audit risk.
The current exam is 180 questions over 230 minutes. Multiple choice and multiple response. Predictive, agile, and hybrid project content split roughly 50 percent predictive, 50 percent agile and hybrid. Pure waterfall preparation will not pass the current exam.
The exam fee is USD 555 for non-PMI members, USD 405 for members. PMI membership is USD 159 per year. Joining usually saves money. We cover the membership and exam booking process during the course.
Renewal needs 60 PDUs every three years. Once you pass, you maintain the PMP credential through 60 Professional Development Units every three-year cycle. Our Disciplined Agile and continuing-education courses earn PDUs into your PMI CCR record.
Oman context: PMP is widely valued. Petroleum Development Oman, Oman LNG, Bank Muscat, the Royal Air Force of Oman, the Ministry of Defence, and most large Oman employers actively favour or require PMP for senior project roles. Vision 2040 capital projects make this more, not less, important.
