How interviewers test your communication and preparation right from the start.
Walk me through your SharePoint and Power Platform career.
I've been on Microsoft 365 development for six years, three in Oman. Started in SharePoint development at an Indian SI, expanded into Power Platform as it matured, and for the past three years I've been SharePoint Power Platform developer at an Omani enterprise. My remit: SharePoint Online development, Power Apps for business applications, Power Automate for workflows, Power BI for reporting. Microsoft certifications across the Power Platform.
M365 dev scope.

Behavioural (STAR)
Past-experience questions. Use the STAR framework: Situation, Task, Action, Result.
Tell me about an app you built.
Last quarter I built a project request management app on Power Apps: form-driven request capture, Power Automate workflow for approvals, SharePoint for documents, Power BI for dashboards. Three months of work end-to-end. Live and used productively. Power Platform delivers business applications at low-code speed when the use case fits.
Real delivery.
Describe a use-case judgement.
Business wanted a complex transaction-processing application built on Power Apps. I pushed back: high transaction volume, complex business logic, integration breadth made Power Apps the wrong fit. Proposed instead a custom .NET application. Adopted. Low-code platforms are productive within their fit; pushing them outside their fit creates pain.
Use case judgement.
Tell me about citizen developer engagement.
Power Platform enables citizen developers. I support them: training, governance, code review of their builds, mentorship. Citizen developer model multiplies impact; ungoverned citizen development creates shadow IT debt. Balance matters.
Citizen-dev support.

Technical & role-specific
Questions that test your specific skills for this role.
Walk me through Power Apps development.
Canvas vs model-driven choice per use case. Component patterns for reusability. Data sources connected properly. Formulas with performance awareness. Responsive design considered. Solutions for ALM. Testing across devices and roles. Power Apps is engineering applied to low-code platform; ad hoc development produces fragile apps.
Power Apps depth.
Describe Power Automate flows.
Flow types per use case: cloud flow for triggered automations, scheduled for cadence-based. Error handling with retry and notification on failure. Approval flows for business processes. SharePoint and other connector integration. Solutions for ALM. Flow naming and documentation discipline. Flows accumulate without discipline; the maintenance burden grows.
Flow depth.
How do you handle SharePoint development?
SharePoint Online primarily; SPFx (SharePoint Framework) for custom development. React-based webparts. Modern UX patterns. Permission discipline. Site collection design per use case. Microsoft 365 governance considered. Modern SharePoint differs from on-premises; embracing the new model produces better outcomes than fighting it.

Situational
Hypothetical scenarios designed to test your judgement and approach.
Business wants a complex app delivered in two weeks. What do you do?
Understand the actual need vs the requested feature. Often complex requests have a 70% MVP that can deliver in two weeks plus iterations. Discuss scope honestly with business. Deliver the MVP cleanly; commit to iterations for the rest. Aggressive timelines without scope discipline produce broken apps and broken trust.
Scope-driven approach.

Cultural fit & motivation
Why this role, why this company, and how you work with others.
How do you balance speed and quality?
Power Platform tempts rapid building; speed without discipline produces brittle apps. I'm pragmatic: simple apps can be quick, complex apps need engineering discipline. I educate users on tradeoffs. Sustainable low-code is engineering applied to low-code platform.
Quality discipline.

Closing
The final stretch. Often where deals are won or lost.
What are your salary expectations?
For a senior SharePoint Power Platform developer role at an Omani enterprise I'd target OMR 1,400 to 1,900 total package depending on scope and team responsibility. Roles with significant citizen-developer enablement pay more. I'd value Microsoft certification budget. I'm on 30-60 days' notice. Beyond pay I'd value the M365 strategy maturity.
Range preference.
