Lifting Engineer

Job Purpose
The Lifting Engineer (Authorised) is responsible for planning, supervising,
inspecting, and ensuring the safe execution of all lifting operations on project sites. The role
requires expert knowledge of lifting equipment, rigging practices, and safety regulations to
control high-risk lifting activities in Oil, Gas, and Construction environments, ensuring
compliance with international standards and project-specific requirements.
Key Tasks and Duties
 Develop, review, and approve Lifting Plans, Rigging Studies, and Risk Assessments for
lifting operations.
 Supervise all lifting activities and ensure compliance with safety standards, client
specifications, and local regulations.
 Conduct pre-lift meetings, toolbox talks, and risk briefings for critical and non-critical lifts.
 Authorize lifting operations by inspecting and verifying the fitness of lifting equipment, slings,
shackles, and cranes prior to use.
 Ensure proper implementation of control measures for complex and heavy lifts (e.g., tandem
lifts, lifting over live plants, confined spaces).
 Coordinate with construction, HSE, and client teams for lift approvals and site preparations.
 Verify operator, rigger, and signalman certifications and competencies before assigning lifting
operations.
 Inspect lifting equipment, maintain logs, and ensure third-party certifications are up to date.

 Manage lifting permits and ensure lifting plans are submitted and approved prior to execution.
 Monitor weather conditions and ensure environmental factors are considered during lifting
operations.
 Identify and immediately rectify unsafe practices and report incidents as per company
procedures.
 Conduct periodic training and refresher sessions for rigging and lifting crews to maintain a
high level of competence and safety.
 Prepare post-lift reports, non-conformance reports (if any), and participate in incident
investigations if required.

Qualification
 Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or equivalent
technical discipline.
