Job Description

The Data Centre Technician II will act as the technical liaison between technology teams and the data centre environment. The role requires troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure issues, ensuring smooth operation of servers, networking, and storage systems, while maintaining documentation and adhering to data centre best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of data centre infrastructure issues; escalate when required.
  • Participate in installation, monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of server hardware/software.
  • Perform replacements of failed components (e.g., hard drives, DIMMs, switches, cables).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and switch issues.
  • Execute base operating system installations, upgrades, bug fixes, and patching.
  • Replace AOC, QSFP, MPO, and Cat6 cables as necessary.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for technologies supported.
  • Support racking/stacking, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment.
  • Participate in standardization projects for hardware and software within the data centre stack.
  • Work as part of a 24/7/365 shift and on-call roster.
  • Drive adherence to operational processes and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (preferred).
  • Equivalent certifications and proven technical experience may be considered.
