Geotechnical Engineer

Job Description

The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for conducting site investigations, analyzing soil and rock properties, preparing geotechnical design reports, and providing engineering solutions for infrastructure and construction projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge, field supervision, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, cost-effective, and reliable project execution.

  • Plan, design, and execute geotechnical site investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing (SPT, CPT, permeability, Lugeon, etc.).
  • Analyze soil and rock properties to assess strength, settlement, stability, and permeability.
  • Prepare geotechnical design reports and provide recommendations for foundations, slopes, retaining structures, embankments, and excavations.
  • Use geotechnical software (Plaxis, GeoStudio, Rocscience suite, AutoCAD) to model and analyze soil-structure interactions.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, design documents, and construction methodologies.
  • Provide on-site supervision and technical guidance during construction, ensuring compliance with geotechnical design requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation measures for geotechnical hazards (landslides, subsidence, groundwater issues).
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, and environmental engineers to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and technical specifications for geotechnical works.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards in all geotechnical activities.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Geology.
  • PhD preferred for senior-level roles.
