Job Description

Job Purpose
The QC Inspector – Painting is responsible for inspecting and ensuring the quality of all
coating and painting activities related to Oil & Gas structures, piping, equipment, tanks,
and offshore modules, in accordance with project specifications, NACE/SSPC standards,
and Oil & Gas HSE protocols. The role includes monitoring surface preparation, verifying
coating systems, and ensuring compliance with anti-corrosion protection plans critical for Oil &
Gas assets.
Key Tasks and Duties
 Conduct coating and painting inspections on structural steel, pressure vessels, pipe
spools, skids, offshore jackets, risers, and storage tanks in accordance with Oil & Gas
project specifications.
 Verify surface preparation quality, including grit blasting, power tool cleaning, and
solvent cleaning as per SSPC-SP10, SP1, or ISO 8501-1.
 Oversee the application of multi-coat systems (epoxy, polyurethane, zinc-rich primers,
fireproofing, or thermal insulation coatings) and verify conformance to client-approved
paint specifications (e.g., PDO, ADNOC, ARAMCO).
 Perform tests such as Dry Film Thickness (DFT), adhesion pull-off tests, holiday
(spark) testing, solvent rub, and cure checks.
 Identify and document non-conformances (e.g., undercoating, overspray, pinholes,
sagging) and issue corrective actions.
 Review and interpret coating procedures, isometrics, P&IDs, painting system
datasheets, and technical standards.
 Ensure compliance with HSE regulations related to volatile organic compounds (VOCs),
confined space entry, PPE usage, and ventilation.
 Conduct inspections at all stages—pre-blast, post-blast, intermediate coats, final finish
coat, and touch-up repairs.
 Maintain QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, painting logbooks,
DFT records, batch certifications, environmental condition records, and NCRs.
Qualification
 Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, or Corrosion
Engineering.
 Certification (Preferred):
 NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 or 2
 BGAS-CSWIP Certification
 Equivalent Oil & Gas-approved coating inspection certifications (e.g., ARAMCO CBT,
ADNOC Coating Approval)
